ANTHONY Clapham (4-23) and Adam Battison (5-38) ran riot as Sandhurst battered Woodcote by eight wickets in their Berkshire League Premier Division clash on Saturday, writes Richard Ashton.

Mike Stroker (21) and captain James Worsfold (20) were the only two visiting batsmen to make double figures as Woodcote were shot out for a mere 81, and Ed Batchelor’s 42 not out helped the Camels race to victory in just 10.5 overs.

Table-toppers Checkendon beat Farley Hill by four wickets as they continued their good run.

Akeesh Khokhar top scored with 44 for the visitors as they were bowled out for 150, but Checkendon were able to chase the target down in 37 overs.

Skipper Matt Jones (62no) and Ankit Singh (52) were among the runs for Ibis Mapledurham (179-9), but they were beaten by six wickets by BCS.

Umer Khalid took 4-37 for the visitors before Usman Asif’s unbeaten 102 allowed BCS to surge to victory with 10 overs to spare.

Ashok Singh’s 6-39 inspired Mortimer West End to a four-wicket triumph at home to Goring.

The visitors were bowled out for 211, and Jason Searancke’s 69 proved crucial in helping MWE to victory.

Shashank Garg bagged 5-36 as Division One pacesetters Shinfield (109-2) brushed aside Hawley (105) by eight wickets, Jay Deshmukh making 46 for the winners.

Twyford & Ruscombe remain second despite suffering a surprising five-run home defeat to Crowthorne & Crown Wood 2nds.

Robin Thompson took 4-28 as the Crows were kept to 162-8, and despite him adding 49 and Siva Andra scoring 60, Twyford collapsed from 112-1 to 157 all out.

Andrew Baines did the bulk of the damage, taking 6-48 for triumphant Crows.

Brilliant centuries from John Synodinos (115) and Dan Spence (105) helped Stratfield Turgis (242-3) pull off a fantastic run chase to beat West Reading 2nds (240) by seven wickets.

Emad Khan (54) and Adnan Raja (51) batted well for Wests, while Synodinos (6-55) and Vignesh Vaidyanathan (4-32) did the damage with the ball for Turgis.

Fine knocks from Sree Venkata (70) and Ravi Sainani (67) led Waltham St Lawrence (211) to a 38-run win against Earley (173). Vinod Aduri made 55 for the hosts, but it proved in vain.

An explosive 72 from Fasul Nufail – aided by an excellent unbeaten 66 from skipper Upendra Deshpande – helped Woodley 2nds (213-4) beat Peppard Stoke Row 2nds (212-8) by six wickets.

For PSR, Dom Hall made 56 and Riaan Ackerman took 4-56 from his 12 overs.

Division Two table-toppers Shinfield 2nds (121-7) battled to a three-wicket victory at Sulhamstead 3rds.

Ghalib Hussain struck an unbeaten 76 and Imran Razaq blasted seven maximums in a quick-fire 67, but West Reading 3rds (199-9) had to settle for the better of their draw against Knowl Hill (184-8).

Alex Francis bagged 4-44 for Hill before James Stoker made an unbeaten 97 from 126 balls.

Ashley Gander made a brilliant 104 to help Warfield (250-7) dominate their draw with Welford Park 2nds (214-8), Ian Herrington’s 63 not out ensuring the visitors were not beaten.

An unbeaten 85 from Steve Smith coupled with a staggering spell of 4-7 from 5.3 overs inspired Wokingham 6ths (234-5 declared in 44 overs) to a 53-run home win against Purley on Thames 3rds (181).

Krish Weerasamy top scored with 55 for the Potters.

Sandhurst 2nds conceded their game at Peppard Stoke Row 3rds.

Mike Cook’s 78 not out guided Division Three leaders Mortimer West End 2nds a 40-run derby victory at Mortimer.

West End were bowled out for 175, but a fine spell from Hugh Patrick (4-27) helped knock over the hosts for 135 in reply.

Hassan Arif smashed 138 not out from just 107 balls as West Reading 4ths beat Binfield 3rds by 74 runs.

Rahul Gupta took 6-55 for Binfield, while John Humphrey scored 78. However, Imran Zaman grabbed 4-42 for Wests.

Khan Azad’s 87 steered Earley 2nds (179-6) to a four-wicket victory against Falkland Development (176-9).

Mike Brundish scored a brilliant 109 not out for Crowthorne & Crown Wood 3rds, but they fell to a narrow two-wicket defeat to Shinfield 3rds.

Sandeep Yadav took 5-47 for the visitors, before useful innings from Emil Reisser-Weston (60) and Tony Gaylor (68) provided the basis for the Shinfield victory, despite Luke Taylor claiming 4-40 for the Crows.

  • BERKSHIRE, Mid Bucks & Chilterns Championship pacesetters Harpsden recorded a sixth straight victory with a five-wicket success against Ruislip Victoria.

Imran Maan (41) and Puneet Kapoor (40no) led the way for the Victorians as they were bowled out for 238, Stef Franklin (3-38) and Tom Hancock (3-44) the pick of the Harps’ attack.

The hosts lost two early wickets, but rebuilt through Ben Hancock (40) and skipper Christian Whittaker (103no) to take victory with three overs to spare.

Chalfont St Giles also enjoyed a sixth consecutive win as they stayed hot on the leaders’ tails with a 34-run success at Welford Park.

Alex Hardy (86), James Plested (58), Dan Heaney (58) and captain Chris Cross (42) were all among the runs as Chalfont smashed 274-6 in their 52 overs, and despite Will Herrington (63) and Stephen Yahia (47) batting well for the hosts, they were bowled out for 240.

Chris Cross (4-38) and Liam Cross (3-87) were the standout performers for the away side.

Peppard Stoke Row climbed to third in the table with an emphatic seven-wicket win against Braywood.

David Williams (6-35) and Alfie Clifton (4-28) proved too hot to handle as the hosts were routed for just 67, and PSR raced to victory in just 10.5 overs.

West Reading had the better of a high-scoring draw at Ley Hill.

Usman Tariq (128) scored his first century and Atiq Javed added 91 in Wests’ total of 305-5, Chris Morris taking 4-63 for the hosts.

Ley Hill captain Craig Peterson (90 from 73 balls) gave his side a solid start, but Hafeez Ul-Wahab (3-48) and Ahsan Iqbal (3-79) turned the game round as the hosts blocked out for the draw on 271-9.

Penn & Tylers Green conceded their game at Crowthorne & Crown Wood.

  • EMMBROOK & Bearwood dropped to the foot of the Chilterns League Premier Division standings after falling to a two-wicket defeat at relegation rivals Holyport.

Sanjeev Jain top scored with 65 for the Bears, but their total of 190-9 proved insufficient as Holyport reached 191-8 in 39.2 overs.

Sandeep Nair crashed 88 from only 72 balls as Emmbrook & Bearwood 2nds smashed Hurley 2nds by 144 runs in Division Three.

The Bears were bowled out for 259, but Ollie Vickers grabbed 4-36 as Hurley were dismissed for 115.
