MORE than 200 teams took part in the annual Burghfield FC summer tournament recently.
There were Under 7 and U8 tournaments played where every participant was awarded a medal, while there were cup and plate competitions held from U9s upwards.
The event was played in glorious sunshine and Burghfield chairman Keith Curtis paid tribute to the volunteers who helped the tournament run so well.
He said: “Our Committee spent months in the planning of our tournament and it ran smoothly over the whole weekend – it was a really great effort from all involved.
“I would also like to say a massive thank you to all the referees who presided over the weekend.
“We would also like to thank all the teams who took part and look forward to them all returning next year when we will be celebrating our 30 years in local football.”
The money raised during the event will be put towards allowing the club’s players to train on an all-weather or 4G pitch during the winter.
