ROB Griffiths scored 42 points to win the President’s Putter on count-back from Tina Mulford.

Chris Hunt and Tony Atkins both scored 40 points with Hunt also edging into third spot on count-back.

Jane Brackenbury (7hcp) won the ladies’ June medal on Saturday, returning a one-over-par 75 for a nett 68.

She made five birdies, nine pars and four bogies with a double bogey on hole12 the only blemish to a fantastic round of golf.

Her handicap was reduced to six, while ladies’ captain, Sandy Miller, was second with a nett 71 followed by Mulford with 76.

Mark Charlton won Division One of the June medal with a gross 80, nett 71.

Jason Kendal was second with 77, nett 74, while Greg Collins with 82, nett 75, beat Nigel Walkley on count-back to take third place.

Matthew Thomas won Division Two with a nett 73, Patrick Wilmore was four shots back in second and Geoff Pudner took third spot 78.

In Division Three, Lee Wilkins was victorious with a nett 72, followed home by Daniel Taylor (75) and Paul Barton (80).

Martin Anscombe claimed the midweek medal with a nett 72, four clear of Barrie Green.

Ian Saunders shot 80 for third place.

Carol Sparvell won the ladies’ June stableford with 35 points. Ola Adams with 33 points beat Lyn Pell on count-back to take second place.

Martin Rolls won the nine-hole Liddiard with 22 points. Simon McNeill scored 20 points and took second place beating Peter Hobbs on count-back.

A West Berks’ men’s team won at home 6-1 to Rye Hill in the Central Sevens League and progressed to Round Three of the Hillman Trophy with a 7-0 home win against Oakland Park.

Meanwhile the seniors lost 4-2 at a very wet Marlborough in a friendly fixture.

  • SARLA Read (20hcp) triumphed in the Ladies Stableford (Angela Uzielli qualifier) at Caversham Park.

She recorded 29 points to win on count-back from Carole Reeves (36hcp), both with 29 points.

Third was Kathy North (31hcp) with 28.

Reeves lost her chance with two nil returns on the last two holes while North, who also had two nil returns early on, ended with two double bogeys.

Luke O’Brien (6hcp) took the honours in a 9-hole stableford on Friday, with 21 points.

Runner-up was Martin Chidgey (7hcp), on count-back from Dave Williams (1hcp), both with 19 points.

Twos were recorded by Chidgey, Paul Tate and Williams, all on the 8th hole.
