THIS year’s winners of the Fair Play Trophy awarded by the Reading Referees Association were WS Hobnob, who play in Division One of the Reading & District Sunday League.
Throughout the season, clubs are marked by the referees who take their games for fair play on the pitch and sporting attitude, and Hobnob had an excellent disciplinary record.
‘They never gave any trouble’, was the verdict of their referees in the 62nd year of the award.
The RRA also recognises those club members who run the line with its club assistant referee awards, which were first instigated in 1933.
They are marked by the referees who take their games, for the quality of their assistance and their fairness.
This year’s winner from the Sunday League was Jason Wicks of Woodley Wanderers and the Thames Valley League winner was Tim Lawson of Westwood United, but he was not able to attend the presentation.
