CRYSTAL Palace will form the opposition for Reading FC in the club’s big home pre-season friendly later this summer.

Roy Hodgson’s Premier League Eagles will visit Madejski Stadium on Saturday, July 28 (3pm ko) for Royals’ final warm up game.

Reading boss Paul Clement is likely to field a full-strength side as he puts the finishing touches to his preparations for the 2018/19 Championship season, which starts a week later on Saturday, August 4.

Palace had a poor start to their last top-flight campaign and lost their opening five fixtures which cost former boss Frank de Boer his job.

The Dutchman was replaced by ex-England manager Hodgson, who led an impressive revival and they finished the season in 11th position.

Reading last faced Palace in an FA Cup quarter final clash in March 2016, which the Eagles won 2-0.

The match is the third first-team friendly announced by the Royals following away trips to Eastleigh on June 30 and AFC Wimbledon on July 7.

Clement will also be taking a first-team squad to Austria for a pre-season tour between July 15-21.
