FOUR members of Woodley Karate Club won eight medals between them when they took part in their first Southern Region competition in Bournemouth.
Organised by the English Goju-Ryu Karate-Do Association (EGKA), it was a well-organised event with top instructors attending. In action from 9am, the Woodley youngsters showed courage, respect, discipline and self-confidence.
There were gold medals in the Kata team event for 13-year-old Sadhvi Patel, Marco Archer (10) and Sameer Tyagi, who is nine.
Sadhvi also won silver in the Kumite, while there were bronzes for Sameer in both the individual Kata and Kumite.
Richard Young, who is six, earned silver in the Kata and bronze in the Kumite.
Woodley Sensei Amie Benton said: “These were amazing achievements and I am very proud of them (pictured).”
She runs karate classes at Woodford Park Leisure Centre each Monday and Thursday from 4.30-6pm and offers a free trial for the first two weeks.
