LAST Saturday was the fourth and final RDAA senior match to be held on the Kennet and Avon Canal at Froxfield this season, writes Alan Hughes.

Thirteen teams of four, making a total of 52 anglers were booked in, with the matchday weather cold and overcast, but with some sunny spells.

There was a strong and cold wind blowing.

Total match weight on the day was 69lbs 6ozs (at an average weight of 1lb 7ozs per angler).

Many thanks to all those that turned out on the day and thanks also go to the proprietors and staff at the Sun Inn public house, Hungerford, which we used as our draw and result headquarters.

The team winners were Reading Civil Service "Phil and three others" which consisted of Phil Allen, Gordon McGee, Richard Munday and Richard Sturgess who amassed 38 points.

Second place went to TRBLAS "Must Try Harders", represented by Simon Couling, Dave Cowley, Chris Humphreys and John Smith, who finished just one point behind.

Individually the match was won by Couling.

Fishing the first peg above the first Ash Tree on Froxfield B section, he banked skimmer bream to 2lbs along with perch, gudgeon and dace to record a weight of 16lbs 10ozs.

RDAA chairman Graham Hawkins, fishing for TRBLAS "Muppets", was second overall.

Fishing the peg opposite the Log on Froxfield B section, Hawkins also banked skimmer bream to 12ozs along with perch, gudgeon and roach to record a weight of 10lbs.

Dave White of TRBLAS ”Dreamers” was third overall.

He fished the same peg as Couling, and also banked skimmer bream of 8ozs, along with perch, to record a weight of 6lbs 3ozs.
