IN the Southern Region Women’s Football League Jubilee Cup, Barton Rovers had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Eastleigh Ladies in the Southern Section.

After a goalless first half where Barton could not convert their chances, it was Eastleigh who took the lead early in the second period against the run of play.

The teams endured some horrendous conditions with blizzards of hail and sleet as the game wore on, but Rovers grew in confidence and enjoyed plenty of possession.

They eventually equalised when an excellent pass from Steph Nelson freed Rachel Allwright, who broke through the Eastleigh defence, drew their keeper and then chipped the ball over her into an empty net .

Tatty Master, Rosie Page-Smith and Mollie Haines netted as Woodley United beat Oxford City Nomads 3-0 in the same competition, securing their place in the quarter finals with a third consecutive group-stage win.

Newbury Ladies Development came from behind to draw 2-2 in their Thames Valley Counties League Division Two South game with Kingsclere.

The away side led 2-0 at the break, but Newbury rallied in the second period and claimed a share of the spoils thanks to a second brace in as many weeks from the in-form Nicole Beesley, the equaliser coming in the 88th minute.
