RDAA affiliated clubs found the going very hard on the venues last weekend, writes Alan Hughes.

The weather was very cold with a gusty wind blowing which meant it was not for the faint-hearted.

There were only two matches on RDAA venues with one on the River Kennet and one on the Kennet & Avon Canal.

Reading Fishing Club found the going tough on the Salmon Cut section of the K & A Canal at Aldermaston.

Pete Budaji took top spot with 8ozs of bleak. George Callaghan took the runner-up spot with 3ozs of small roach and a single roach gave John Ambrose third place with 1oz.

The other match on the River Kennet was Excelsior who fished their match on the Ufton River section.

George Smith found two decent chub and lost another just as he was about to net it, but he still took 11lbs 2ozs to the scales and the other anglers all recorded blanks.

Tilehurst Royal British Legion travelled to Culham to fish the lock cut section of the River Thames.

Seventeen anglers took part and 15 of them recorded blanks.

John Smith took the honours with two roach that weighed in at 5ozs. Mick Stanley took the runner up spot with one roach for 1oz.
