MALCOLM Gregory and Niall McGrane doubles helped Sonning Common & Peppard D hold leaders Curzon Club A to a 5-5 draw in Division Two of the Reading & District League, John Willcocks and Jon Willis winning two apiece for Curzon.

A Julian Telford maximum and two apiece from Phil Jones and Cath Venning saw Tilehurst Methodists A beat Kingfisher F 8-2, while Tidmarsh B were 6-4 winners against Sonning Common & Peppard C thanks to Barry Carter’s last gasp win over Tim Raby. Matt Stone starred for Sonning Common with a fine treble.

Brian Meheux got yet another maximum as he continued his good form in an 8-2 win for second-placed Sonning Common & Peppard B against bottom-of-the-table Pangboune WMC, John Simmonds getting both wins for the beaten side.

Tidmarsh C kept up their good run after another Lee Calcutt treble steered them towards a 6-4 victory over Our Lady of Peace B, Dave Godfrey winning twice for OLOP, as did Simon Barter for Tidmarsh.

In Division Three, Milestone B took another step towards promotion after beating Kingfisher J 9-1, Sanket Dave and Zolton Keleman with maximums.

Second-placed Springfield A were narrow 6-4 winners at Our Lady of Peace C, Phil Burke with a treble, while Tilehurst Methodists B put up a good show at Sonning Common & Peppard E before losing 6-4.

Kingfisher H and Kingfisher I battled out an exciting 5-5 draw, Gwynne Penny’s fine hat-trick giving the I team a share of the spoils.

Curzon Club B crashed to a 6-4 defeat to Tidmarsh D in Division Four, for whom Dave Edwards was in top form by winning all three.

Steve Leggett had a good night for Springfield B by gaining a three-straight hat-trick to give them a 5-5 draw against Our Lady of Peace E, while Reading FC A beat Curzon Club C 8-2, Jazz Dhillon winning all three.

In Division Five, Springfield D overcame Milestone C 7-3, thanks to maximums from Colin Jones and Adrian Wegrzynowski – Tony Hayden, Carl Edlind and John Evans recording wins for Milestone – but they lost 8-2 at Sonning Sports B, for whom Florin Dimofte scored a treble while John Scott and Sally James both won two each.

Tilehurst Methodists D lost 6-4 to Sonning Common & Peppard G, for whom a maximum from Mike Casserley and a double from Steve Knott proved decisive. Lala Stryjak recorded her first double for Methodists.

Tidmarsh E drew 5-5 with Reading FC B, while Our Lady of Peace F retained top spot with a 9-1 win at Springfield C.
