HIGHMOOR Ibis took an early lead at Thatcham Town in their Premier Division game on Tuesday, but eventually slipped to a 2-1 defeat, writes Richard Ashton.

Mitchell Parker gave the visitors an 11th-minute lead, but a Tom Melledew effort and an own goal ensured the high-flying Kingfishers took all three points.

Highmoor had previously been beaten 3-1 at Windsor on Saturday.

A first-half Riccardo Cannon double put the home side in control, although Ricardo Catlyn halved the deficit in the 62nd minute.

That was as good as it got for Fabian Coultress’ side, with Haydon Clack making it 3-1 just two minutes later.

Highmoor Ibis host Brimscombe & Thrupp on Saturday (3pm).

  • WOODLEY United battled to a 2-1 home win in their Premier Division clash with Brackley Town Saints.

Alex Stott gave the away side an early lead when his curling shot found the top right-hand corner, but Greg Beckett levelled matters midway through the first half before a second-half Danny Horscroft strike sealed the win.

The Kestrels had previously been beaten 1-0 at Lydney Town on Saturday, Ross Gabriel’s 55th-minute strike doing the damage for the hosts.

Woodley United travel to Fairford Town on Saturday (3pm), before hosting Abingdon United in the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup on Monday (7.45pm).

  • AFC Aldermaston slipped to a 3-2 defeat at Holyport in Division One East.

Liam Bradley gave ‘Port an early lead, only for Liam Tackley to level on the quarter-of-an-hour mark.

Jonny Feaver put the home side back in front before the break, and a 55th-minute Charlie Evans goal put them in charge.

Craig Masterton cut the gap and set up a frantic final 10 minutes, but the Atom Men could not find an equaliser.

AFC Aldermaston visit Reading YMCA in the Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy on Saturday (2pm).
