CHRIS Gunter is calling on Reading FC fans to come out in force for tonight’s Carabao Cup clash against Swansea City.

Royals have slashed adult ticket prices to just £10 for the third-round clash against Premier League Swans at Madejski Stadium (8pm ko).

The last time Jaap Stam’s men played at home they lost 1-0 to Bristol City, ending their 13-match unbeaten home league record.

But Welshman Gunter believes that with the backing of a big crowd, Reading could topple Swansea, with their boss Paul Clement likely to rest a number of his players.

"We've always said we need the fans,” stressed Gunter after Royals sold their full 1,650 ticket allocation for Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Brentford.

“We realise that especially around this time of year with school holidays that it's an expensive time, but we'd obviously like as many fans as possible.

"Our last home game (against Bristol City) didn't go to plan but overall at home, I don't think we've let them down too much over the past 12 months or so.

"Hopefully they can come and support us, and then it can be a good night for the team and the fans."

Reading’s two previous Carabao Cup games this season also took place at Madejski Stadium, with Stam’s men beating Gillingham 2-0 in the first round and Millwall 3-1 in the second.

Swansea entered the competition at the second-round stage and eased to a 4-1 win at League One MK Dons.

Clement rotated his squad for match and the Swans boss is likely to do similar tonight and rest some players who featured in the 0-0 draw with Tottenham at Wembley in Saturday’s Premier League clash.

That could mean the likes of Wilfried Bony, Wayne Routledge and Angel Rangel could all start for the Swans.

And Wales international Gunter is expects nothing less than a tough game.

"It'll be a good test for us,” he stated. “Swansea are probably a team that play slightly similar to ourselves and over the last couple of years they've done really well in the league above.

"For the team that goes out on Tuesday night, it'll be a great chance to test ourselves and ultimately we want to win the game at home and put ourselves through to the next round.

"It will be tough but I think it's a real good game for us. It's a good chance to see where we are in terms of playing our football against a team from the league above."
