QUEEN Anne’s and The Abbey dominated the girls’ competition at the Reading Schools athletic championships held at Palmer Park last Friday.

The Caversham school won the Under 16 and U14 team trophies, narrowly beating The Abbey on both occasions, but the placings were reversed at U13 level.

Denefield took the third spot in the two older age groups, with Prospect occupying the same place in the junior event.

Blue Coat were the most successful school in the boys’ competition, securing the U13 and U16 trophies. But the most dominant team of the day were Highdown boys, who streaked to victory in the U14 event, finishing 18 points ahead of runners-up Hugh Faringdon.
