READING FC will take on Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem in a pre-season friendly on Saturday, July 29 (3pm ko).

The match will take place at Wycombe's Adams Park ground as the Madejski Stadium will not be ready while work continues to install a new pitch.

The fixture comes a week after Jaap Stam's first-team squad return from a 10-day tour to Holland from July 12 until July 22.

Vitesse Arnhem finished fifth in the Eredivisie last season - football's  top tier in the Netherlands - and should provide a stern test for the Royals.

It will be Reading's only home fixture of the pre-season campaign.

Stam's men will host QPR in back-to-back friendlies at Hogwood Park on Saturday, July 8, but the matches will be staged behind closed doors and are not open to the public.

Royals will then head to Holland the following Wednesday for a 10-day tour.

The team will be based in Oosterbeek and will play a number of friendlies, though details of the matches are yet to be confirmed.

Reading launch their 2017/18 Championship season away to QPR at Loftus Road on Saturday, August 5.
