DEE Road Rangers came from 3-1 down to beat Woodley Wanderers 6-4 after extra time in the Tilehurst Charity Cup final at Madejski Stadium last Friday.
The Reading Sunday League Senior Division champions looked to be heading for a shock defeat when trailing to their Premier Division rivals with less than 10 minutes remaining.
But the introduction of substitute Marcus Richardson unsettled the Woodley defence and he set up Rangers’ second goal for Mitchell Parker with Philip John then netting a penalty to bring the scores level.
Zac Tull, Richardson and Ibrahim Koroma sealed victory to give Rangers a league and cup double.
Adam Kingsbeer had earlier opened their account, only for Richard Bennett and Jamie Connor to put Wanderers ahead at half-time, with the latter then increasing his side’s lead.
Rangers secretary Kenny Nice said: “We deserved to win as we were the better footballing side.We deserved to win as we were the better footballing side.
"We played much better in the second half than we did in the first and scored some brilliant goals. But we must give credit to Woodley, they are a good Premier Division side.”
Connor, who also plays for the Highmoor Ibis side managed by Richardson, won the Berkshire Trophy Centre man-of-the-match award.
