BERKSHIRE Over 60s suffered a heavy nine-wicket defeat in their Seevent County Championship game at Surrey last Tuesday.
Dave Tooze (18) won the toss and chose to bat, but he was the first wicket to fall with the score on 25 as he was bowled by Dave Freeman.
Ronnie Brock (16), Phil Ridgeway (15) and Ian Harvey (20) were the only other visiting players to reach double figures as Surrey took control of the contest.
Barry Hart (4-22), Steve Saker (3-9) and John Hall (2-19) were the pick of a disciplined attack as Berkshire were hustled out for just 114, having only batted for 36.2 overs.
The home side were never in trouble in the run chase, with Chris Evans (64no) and Andy Peters (36) putting on 97 for the opening wicket before the latter was bowled by Errol Masters.
However, that would prove to be Berkshire’s sole success, with Nigel Angus joining Evans in knocking off the remaining runs with 16 overs to spare.
