Like Dee Road Rangers, they have suffered only one league defeat and are now just one point adrift of the champions with one game left, and nine clear of the third side, Tilehurst Club.

The latter failed to close the gap as they went down 2-1 at home to fifth-placed Emmer Green.

They are three points ahead of Henley Town, with the title challengers meeting at Henley in their final game this Sunday, but United have a superior goal difference of 25.

Hugh Barklem was again the star man for the Town as his four goals inspired them to an 8-0 rout of rock-bottom Loddon Valley Rangers.

Among the other goalscorers in a one-sided affair were Tom Chaplin, Josh Collins and an own goal. Forest sealed sixth place with a 3-1 win over Berkshire Rovers, who are two places below them.

In Division Four East, South Reading leapfrogged Six Bells into fourth place by beating them 6-3, while Fox & Hounds squeezed past Borussia Teeth 2-1, leaving the pair seventh and sixth respectively in the final standings.
