ROBERT Newman is the new men’s singles champion at Whiteknights Indoor Bowls Club in Earley.
The former England international was in top form as he defeated Simon Jones 21-4.
The ladies’ championship was scooped by Morgan Merryweather, who overcame Lynn Watkins 21-16 in an entertaining final.
She also won the ladies’ unbadged singles title with a 21-6 victory over Sally Windmill.
In a fine trio of performances, Merryweather also reached the final of the Under 25 event, only to lose 21-12 to BJ Byles.
Mike Fraser took the honours in the men’s unbadged tournament, edging out Martin Brailey by a 21-17 margin.
The ladies’ two-wood singles title went the way of Cathie Edwards, who battled her way to a 16-12 defeat of runner-up Caroline Mabley.
Whiteknights also staged their U16 singles final and the title went to Niam Patel thanks to an impressive 21-8 win against Krish Thapa.
