IN the Reading & District League Lower Divisions Knockout Cup, Our Lady of Peace E enjoyed a convincing 7-2 win over their F team club mates, securing victory after only five sets to reach the semi-finals.
Pradeep Desh and Abhay Gore starred with a two-straight maximum, and OLOP now face Tidmarsh D who beat Sonning Common & Peppard F 6-3, Dave Smith and Andy Stephens with the maximum.
Tidmarsh E also reached the last four following their 6-3 win over Reading FC C, Bob Sunerton and Pete Sinclair winning all of their sets.
In the Team Handicap, Our Lady of Peace E beat Pangbourne WMC B 5-4 with captain Alistair Richardson winning the match by taking the final set of the evening.
Pangbourne’s Leroy Wilson managed a fine maximum, but to no avail.
In the semi finals, OLOP now travel to Milestone A, who won 5-2 against Sonning Common & Peppard D with the final two sets un-played, potentially depriving unbeaten John Crosfield of a maximum, and likewise Mark Jones for Sonning.
Milestone B progressed after a 7-2 victory over Reading FC B, with Zoltan Keleman unbeaten on the night.
Reading FC A complete the semi-final line up following a 6-3 victory at Sonning Common & Peppard C, captain Richard Witt starring with the maximum.
Andrew Robertson’s treble and two apiece from Mark Jones and Anthony Reeve saw Sonning Common & Peppard D beat Kingfisher E 7-3 in Division Two, with the latter’s tough 13-11 13-15 12-10 11-9 victory over Grant Wheatley proving crucial.
In Division Four, Curzon Club C shocked the club’s B team 8-2 with Carine Bey obtaining a great treble – her first of the season.
Linda King and Terry Spice both managed doubles for the C side.
Three days later, Curzon Club C won again, this time 7-3 at Tilehurst Methodists D to give them every hope of avoiding the drop.
Terry Spice gained a hat-trick with John Walker winning two and King obtaining a single.
Curzon Club B lost at home to Our Lady of Peace E for whom Binit Bhaskar managed a treble and Jan Polnik and Pradeep Desh won two each.
Paul Brown’s hat-trick saw Reading FC B defeat Springfield D 6-4 in Division Five, Joe Bull adding two wins in support as well as the pair teaming up to win the doubles set.
