WOKINGHAM & Emmbrook picked up their first Reading & District Sunday League Division Two points of the season by stunning Loxwood 2-1 at Lowther Road, writes Richard Ashton.

The rock bottom hosts had lost all of their previous nine league matches, but produced a battling performance to finally record their first success of the campaign despite Jamie Turner's goal for Lox.

Charvil Rangers kept their title dreams alive and all but ended AFC Caversham’s as they picked up a 2-0 win at the second-placed side, while Arborfield beat Imaan 3-1 and AFC Burghfield Reserves overcame Falcon 2-1 in their mid-table tussle.

The Tilehurst Club remain in the hunt for Senior Division glory after their 5-1 victory at Southcote left them seven points adrift of leaders Dee Road Rangers with two games in hand.

Defending champions Reading Irish are also not out of contention following a 4-1 win at basement boys Kidmore End/The Mod, while second-bottom Burghfield downed Richfield Rovers 2-0 for their second success of the season.

Premier Division table-toppers Purley extended their 100% record to nine matches by annihilating Eldon Celtic 10-2, and The County won 3-0 at Mortimer.

In Division One, second-placed Eldon Celtic gained revenge for their loss earlier in the season by beating Woodley United 5-1.

The game started in frantic fashion with Celtic scoring two quick goals in the first five minutes, but the visitors hit back almost immediately when Sam Bell scored.

Woodley were down to 10 men after 28 minutes when Ricky Beneventu was adjudged to have made a dangerous challenge on the Eldon keeper, and the hosts added three goals in the final half hour to put a gloss on the scoreline.

Polonia Reading drew 2-2 with 116 Exiles.

Reading United hammered 116 Exiles Reserves 8-2 to stay top of Division Three East, while second-placed Park Villa – level on points with the leaders, but having played two games more – won 3-0 at Berkshire Rovers.

Unbeaten AFC Basildon climbed to the top of the Division Three West table after thrashing Tilehurst Titans 9-2, with Woolhampton CFC – who also have 23 points from nine games – slipping from the summit following a 3-3 draw at home to Whitley Athletic.

Southbank edged out The Tilehurst Club A 5-4 in a cracker.

Division Four East leaders AFC Lowfield Green moved four points clear with a 3-1 win at Six Bells as nearest rivals Twyford Comets lost 4-3 at South Reading.

Caversham United won a classic between the bottom two as they overcame Shinfield Rangers 5-4.

Barton Rovers Reserves are two points from the top of Division Four West after a 3-2 win at Calcot Royals.

Woodley Wanderers reached the final of the Tilehurst Charity Cup with a 4-2 extra-time win at home to AFC Pangbourne. The two sides had drawn 2-2 in 90 minutes.

AFC Pangbourne Reserves beat Fox & Hounds 3-0 in the semi final of the John Lusted Cup. They will meet Englefield for the trophy after they shocked Southcote Colts by the same scoreline.
