KINGFISHER C beat clubmates Kingfisher D 6-4 in a hard-fought Reading & District League Division One contest after Steve Murgatroyd beat Rob Gladstone in five sets in the final match.

The Our Lady of Peace B youngsters Harry Munro and Yonaton Slobodskoy were in fine form as they beat Sonning Common & Peppard A 8-2, but the beaten side rebounded thanks to a Gary Morgan treble and two from Jason Roberts in defeating Tidmarsh A 6-4.

Steve Ng, Sagar Sawant and David Joyce nudged Kingfisher G nearer promotion from Division Two as they beat Pangbourne WMC A 9-1, Denise Weller with a consolation win. Kingfisher F lost a close match at Sonning Common & Peppard E with Malcolm Gregory beating Allan Bruton to clinch a 6-4 win.

Tidmarsh B are in the promotion hunt after beating Our Lady of Peace C 6-4, despite a Dan West treble for the visitors.

At the bottom, Sonning Common & Peppard D lost a marathon match against Sonning Common & Peppard C 8-2 with Danny Dockree getting a maximum for the C side and Andrew Robertson matching that for the D team.

Tilehurst Methodists A kept their chances of avoiding the drop alive with a battling 5-5 draw with Sonning Common & Peppard C, Cath Venning with an impressive treble, supported by two wins from Nigel Rowland.

Team of the week in Division Three were Our Lady of Peace D who continued their recent resurgence with a stunning 8-2 win over high-flying Tidmarsh C – maximums for Ali Richardson and Wendy Porter plus a double from Dave Godfrey doing the damage. Simon Barter saved the whitewash.

Basement team Tilehurst Methodists C picked up just their third point of the season with a 5-5 draw against Sonning Sports A. There were doubles for Mike Williams and Paul Treadgold, while Bob Woodmansee hit a straight games maximum for the Sports.

Springfield A moved up to fourth after a narrow 6-4 win over Kingfisher I which included another maximum for Phil Burke and a double for Ludo Couillard. There were two wins for Carol Byers in reply for Kingfisher. Reserve Clive Gold hit a maximum to help inspire Kingfisher H to an 8-2 win over Tilehurst Methodists B, who have slipped into the relegation places as a result. Igor Sremac also hit a treble with Jes Eassom and Steve Dopson replaying for Tilehurst.

Pangbourne WMC B still lead the table after a narrow 6-4 win over Kingfisher J.

In Division Four, Sonning Common & Peppard F recorded their seventh win in a row by beating Springfield B 7-3, Angus Jones getting his fifth hat-trick in a row.

Our Lady of Peace E downed Tilehurst Methodists E 6–4 with Binit Bhaskar winning all three, while Gwynne Penny was the star by gaining a treble to help Kingfisher K beat Reading FC A 6–4. Ruben Hernandez did well to gain a double.

Milestone B went five points clear at the top by beating Curzon Club B 8–2 with Sachin Mundra and Zoltan Kelemen both winning all three.

Our Lady of Peace F increased their lead at the top of Division Five with a 7-3 victory over second-placed Kingfisher L, with Laurence de Ste Croix, Simon Brookes and Andrew Adair all winning two while, in reply for Kingfisher, David O’Keeffe scored a double.

Springfield C lost 6-4 to Sonning Common & Peppard H, for whom Mike Casserley led the way with a treble.

The pair combined to win the doubles while, for Springfield, Chris Speight won two, James Regan won one and Rob Atack won one.

Isaac Davies scored another maximum for Tidmarsh E, but Sonning Common & Peppard G grabbed a 5-5 draw, with the result replicated by BBC Club and Reading FC C. For the BBC, John Scott scored a maximum and partnered Dave Pearson to a doubles win, while for Reading FC, Derek Anderson and Wayne Alleyne both scored two.
