WHITEKNIGHTS Ladies progressed to the quarter-finals of the Yetton Plate with a 56-50 win against Thornbury on Saturday.

The Earley-based club won two of the rinks, drew one and lost one and will now meet ISCA, from Devon, in the last eight.

However, Whiteknights were knocked out of the National Top Club competition, beaten 14-2 by Egham.

B.J. Byles won his 2-Wood singles 14-12, but the club lost the Mixed Pairs, Mixed Triples, Mixed Fours and Ladies 2-Wood Singles.

It takes place between 9.30am and 1pm, and people will be able to try the sport and see the facilities available to the club’s 300 members.

Coach John Rees said: “Bowls is a sport for all ages and can be as social or competitive as you want it to be.

“It provides exercise and many opportunities to meet and make new friends.”

He added: “Just turn up any time during the morning – it could be the start of a new lease of life for you.”
