HIGHMOOR IBIS crashed out of the Floodlit Cup after Ardley United came from behind to win 4-1 in Oxfordshire.

The visitors took the lead four minutes before the break when a free-kick from the right into the penalty area was met first time by Harry Badderley who stroked home.

Highmoor could have doubled their lead both before and just after the break – Mitchell Parker firstly taking a run at the home defence before fizzing a shot wide of the Ardley left-hand post and then blazing over from 18 yards after the interval.

Parker again tested Lee Farrow as Highmoor impressed, but they were left to rue a dramatic final 15 minutes.

Firstly Chris Jackson headed home from a corner, and the same player put the hosts in front when he netted from six yards from another corner.

The game was killed off in injury time when Leam Howards slotted home a penalty and then added a second goal to his tally.

Highmoor had previously secured a 1-0 home win against Oxford City Nomads in the Premier Division on Saturday, Yashwa Romeo’s 35th-minute strike proving enough despite Harrison Bayley’s red card following a pair of bookings.

  • WOODLEY United did not have a game last weekend, but return to Division One East action with a home game against Rayners Lane on Saturday (3pm).

They then host FC Beaconsfield for a place in the Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup quarter finals next Tuesday (7.45pm).
