ALL roads lead to Rosehill this Saturday, where it’s the first league clash between Reading Abbey and ‘my boys’ Reading since January 2012.

On that occasion we ran out 46-25 winners at Holme Park and let’s hope there’s plenty of points and some hard, fast, open and entertaining rugby again.

I know it’s early days, but if league placing is anything to go by then it should be a cracker as Abbey are currently ninth in the South West One East table having won one of their opening four games, and we’re eighth – two points ahead of them having won twice.

It’s our first derby of the new season and everything is to play for, so I’m sure that it’s going to attract a large crowd.

Abbey won at Oxford Harlequins last weekend to open their league account while we managed a home win against previously unbeaten Witney. In fact it could have been a five-pointer had things gone our way in the last 15 minutes.

In-form Harri Palmer-Edwards, two, and Chris Grieg grabbed the tries while the team put in a very solid performance again with the back row of Peter Czernuszka, Luke Titley and skipper Jon Cranton outstanding.

Prop Andrew Grierson’s return to the side, after two years out, was also significant, while Ryan Smith did well out of position at loose head.

In the backs Alex Dorliac always held a threat, Stuart Borthwick was his usual all-action self and Alex Murray-Smith was solid in defence.

Sadly for Redingensians Rams their long trip to Cornwall didn’t bear fruit as they came back on the end of a frustrating defeat at Redruth.

It’s never easy to win in the ‘Duchy’ at the best of times, and all the points came in the first half.

Let’s hope they can make amends this Saturday at home to Chinnor.

Greene King IPA Championship leaders London Irish will aim to make it five wins from five at Nottingham tomorrow, following their bonus-point victory against Ealing Trailfinders.

Further afield, the Rugby Championship will make its northern hemisphere debut at Twickenham on Saturday night, when Australia play Argentina.

Enjoy your rugby!
