READING teenager Hafsa Kabeer secured a superb bronze medal in the marathon race at the Kayaking World Cup in Portugal recently.
The Kendrick schoolgirl competed against some of the most elite junior women from around the globe for the K1 race at the Vila Verde resort.
The 3km race proved to be particularly demanding, especially in the 40 degree heat the athletes were subjected to.
A week earlier, the talented youngster had also won one bronze and one silver medal in the GB National Championships, which were held in Reading.
Kabeer has been invited to race in Neerpelt, Belgium, for the Flemish National Sprint Championships.
Her 10-year-old brother, Ali, is following closely in her footsteps and has a number of medals in his collection too.
He recently earned a silver medal from the Kayaking National Marathon Championships.
