LAST weekend saw two RDAA Club matches on the River Kennet, two on the River Thames and one on the lakes, writes Alan Hughes.

Starting on the River Kennet and at Beat 5 (Berkeley Avenue) where Courage/SE used the whole venue for their match against Tilehurst Royal British Legion.

The match was won comprehensively by TRBLAS and Courage will look for revenge in the second match at Froxfield.

Liam Page-Smith took the individual honours with 9lbs of dace, perch, roach and small chub.

In the runner up place was Simon Couling with a chub plus silvers to weigh in 7lbs 4ozs.

Third place was taken by Martin Rafferty with 5lbs 10ozs of similar species.

Moving on upstream on the Kennet, Reading Fishing Club fished Beat 3B (Fobney Island) for the Phil Berry Memorial Cup.

It was Arthur Maybanks who claimed the silverware with his first match victory since joining Reading Fishing Club as he weighed in 2lbs 2ozs of silvers, while one chub of 1lb 15ozs gave John Harding the runner-up spot. Pete Budaji completed the trio with 1lb 10ozs of silvers.

Prospect A.C. held their match against Arborley A.C. on the A section of the Thames at Wallingford.

Wayne Russelll took the honours with 28lbs 8ozs that included two bream of 7lbs 12ozs and 7lbs 4ozs.

Terry Littlewood filled the runner up spot with 9lbs 6ozs of silvers that included skimmers up to 1lb 8ozs.

Third place was taken by Kevin Jarrett with 7lbs 12ozs. Several anglers reported losing big fish.

Tring Anglers travelled to Benson on the Wallingford B stretch of the Thames. Ten fished the match on a beautiful fishing weather day. The river was very busy as was the new pathway with bikes and walkers.

Everybody caught with Martin Rodwell in his element climbing down the bank and fishing the six-metre whip in his waders from peg two to bring 11lbs 7ozs to the scales with a varied catch of roach, perch, bleak, chublets.

The weight would have been higher had he not suffered with pike.

Second spot went to Richard Woollard with a mixed catch that totalled 8lbs 7ozs and in third spot was Richard Gibbs with 7lbs 120zs of quality roach on the waggler.

Longwater Lake was the venue for Bracknell Avocets and they turned out nine anglers for the fourth match of the season, and their first visit to the venue. Everybody caught, but big fish were few and far between.

The overall match weight was 37lbs 3ozs . The match was won by Richard Herman with 10lbs 10ozs which included two tench, 4lbs 10ozs & 2lbs,and a bream 2lbs.

Second spot was taken by Barry Morten with 9lbs 8ozs including a tench of 4lbs 6ozs and third was Steve Jolliffe with 4bs 3ozs.

The RDAA Tuesday Club fished an evening match on Longwater Lake and John Ambrose took top spot with two tench and silvers to take 13lbs 4ozs to the scales.

Close behind was Steve Lewis also with two tench and silvers to weigh in 12lbs 12ozs and completing the podium places was George Callaghan with one bream and the obligatory silvers to total 6lbs 10ozs.
