WITH the Kennet match weights looking down for the season, anglers were expecting a hard time last weekend.

A clear river and bright sunshine made it really hard going.

The usual silver fish were difficult to locates and it was left to the chub to fill the weights.

We start at Beat 4 (Rose Kiln Lane) for one of three matches on the River Kennet and this was fished by Courage/ SE.

The winner was Graham Hawkins who managed to collect small roach dace and perch feeding using the stick float method.

Graham managed to take 1lb 14ozs of the species to the scales and take top spot. The runner up spot went to Andy White who weighed in 1lb 9ozs of small dace and roach. Harvey Cannon claimed third spot with 12ozs of similar species.

T.R.B.L.A.S. headed to Beat 3B Section of the River Kennet.

Despite the river fishing hard this season the top two weights on the day were both double figures.

Tony Tibble continued his good run by landing 4 chub plus bits to weigh in 12lbs 3ozs, in second place was Andy Chapman with 10lbs 14ozs which was two chub plus bits.

The Polish Anglers Association held their lure match on the Benyons area of the Kennet and they had a superb turnout of 64 anglers.

There were 133 fish caught (89 perch, 25 pike, 7 chub, 12 trout).

The biggest fish was: pike, 92cm, caught by Linas Liudžius, pictured above. They asked for a big thank you to RDAA for the use of the waters.

Tring Anglers held their match on Longwater Lake at Green Park and the venue lived up to it's growing reputation.

The winner was Glen Miller who drew peg 15 that won the last match. Glen netted two tench and two bream to total 12lbs 4ozs.

The runner up was Martin Rodwell and he took 11lbs 6ozs of rudd roach and skimmers to the scales. Andy Allday completed the trio with 9lbs 12ozs of same species as runner up.

Brown-Lee Pool was the venue for Miles A.C. match and Derek Thrower took top spot with 9lbs 2ozs of small carp, tench and roach.

Colin Thrower took the second spot with 7lbs 3ozs of similar species and completing the podium line up was Tony Prior with 2lbs 1oz of silvers.

Excelsior were back at Frobury Farm where rudd and small carp were the fish of the day.

It was close at the top with only 1lb separating Mick Chandler on 65lbs 8ozs and Paul Booth fishing as a guest with 64lbs 8ozs. Ken Wright filled third place with 57lbs 8ozs.

The RDAA Tuesday Club held their match on the Thames at Goring on what was the hottest day of the year so far.

John Berry took the honours with 15lbs 14ozs of quality hemp caught roach. Tony Holdsworth took second spot with 13lbs 4ozs of roach and dace and George Callaghan claimed third place with 11lbs 5ozs of similar species.
