READING FC are being heavily linked with Legia Warsaw's Bartosz Bereszynski.

Polish media say the 23-year-old defender has agreed to join the Royals for around 500,000 euro.

Bereszynski, capped twice by Poland, has played 131 games for Legia Warsaw since 2013, having joined them from hometown club, Lech Poznan.

He best position is at right-back which is an area Reading are eager to strengthen to provide cover and competition for Chris Gunter.

Reading have already made one signing since the end of last season following the arrival of Danzell Gravenberch from Eerste Divisie side FC Dordrecht for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old Dutchman, who can play in defence or midfield, impressed during a trial before completing a medical last week.

He will formalise his move when the transfer window opens in July and is likely to pen a three-year deal.

Gravenberch, who started his career with Ajax, was first spotted by Reading's new technical director, Brian Tevreden, the man now in charge of transfers.

Gravenberch said: “I got on well with the teammates here whilst I was training and they play some very good football, so I like it here.
“I’m looking forward to getting started and I’m focused now on the beginning of the season.”

Meanwhile, Reading are continuing their search for Brian McDermott's replacement, with Jaap Stam still the favourite with bookmakers.

Dutch media suggested the former Manchester United defender and current Ajax assistant manager met Royals' representatives for talks in London recently, though those reports were later denied by his agent.

However, 43-year-old Stam is well known to Tevreden, who worked with Ajax youth teams before joining Royals in February.

Ex-Chelsea boss Avram Grant and former Athletic Madrid ace Milinko Pantic, whose last coaching job was at FC Baku in Azerbaijan between 2013-14, are also among the front runners ahead of Steve Bruce, Gianfranco Zola and Alex McLeish.

McDermott was sacked by Reading for the second time last Friday and has already been linked with the vacant manager's position at Bolton Wanderers.

His second stint in charge of Royals lasted a mere 161 days and included nine wins in 30 games and a 17th-placed finish in the Championship.
