BOYS from Bulmershe Gymnastics Club began their season in brilliant fashion by picking up eight medals in the Southern Region Floor and Vault competition in Basingstoke.

Clean round one performances from Alex Flan and William Fleming ensured they collected gold and silver respectively, while bronze medalist Isaac Jackman performed a very impressive floor routine but dropped a few marks on his vault landing.

Angus Fisher performed a polished floor routine packed full of flexibility moves, and with two clean vaults he was awarded the Under 10 gold medal.

Joshua Bodimede also scored very highly with a strong floor routine and straddle over vault. His floor including a tucked front somersault executed perfectly and he was a close second with a silver medal.

George Sammes was the only Bulmershe gymnast in the round two U12 Category and he performed an excellent routine and two straddle over vaults to earn a gold medal.

In round three, U10 James Dawson performed his most polished routine to date as a well-rehearsed routine was delivered with confidence and style.

In conjunction with two very clean vault landings, this resulted in James achieving his first silver medal at a regional competition.

Oliver Harradence was also in fine form as he started well with a strong floor routine and went on to perform two outstanding squat through vaults, ultimately taking the bronze medal.

A previous gold medal winner, Thomas Munchie, had a very impressive floor routine, performed with strength and control, but his vault was slightly mistimed leading him to narrowly miss out on a medal.

Head coach Matt Dawson was quick to praise his young squad and beamed; “Overall they performed brilliantly and the boys are looking forward to further competitions in the early part of the year, where they hope to build on this success.”
