AARON Kuhl jetted out to Holland yesterday (Wednesday) to join Real Mallorca’s training camp and discuss the possibility of joining the Spanish outfit on loan.

The 19-year-old midfielder was due to talk to representatives of the Segunda Division side and discuss personal terms.

If Kuhl likes what he sees he is likely to spend the whole of next on loan with Mallorca.

The England Under 19 international emerged from the Reading FC Academy where his father, Martin, is a coach.

He is a former youth captain for Reading and captained the team which won the under 21 Premier League Cup

Kuhl made his first team Royals debut last season against Huddersfield Town in a 2-1 defeat at Madejski Stadium.

The midfielder made six Championship appearances in all, but barely featured once Steve Clarke was named manager in December 2014.

Kuhl has also been rarely used by Clarke during pre-season, and turned out for the Academy U21s against Plymouth Argyle U21s last week.

It is thought Clarke believes a loan spell will improve Kuhl’s all-round game and give him more first team opportunities than he’ll get at the Madejski Stadium this season.

Hope Akpan, Oliver Norwood, Danny Williams, Stephen Quinn and Aaron Tshibola are all currently above Kuhl in the central midfield pecking order and he would find it difficult to break into Clarke’s plans this season.

Mallorca used to ply their trade in La Liga but finished 16th in last season’s Segunda Division, under the management of former Barcelona and Chelsea right back Albert Ferrer.
