I feel that the Labour Party campaigners who called the Wind Farm protestors 'Nimbys' (Chronicle, 'Nimby' accusation blows up a storm', February 25) should take a look at their own esteemed leader before making such comments.

At a recent planning refusal of the Saline Wind Farm near Edinburgh, I note that PM Gordon Brown lent his support to the protestors on the grounds that the turbines would be, and I quote: "Five huge turbines based just two kilometres away from 200 houses would have had an adverse effect on the landscape and appearance of the area, people's health."

If a two kilometre radius was placed around Rushy Mead, then I would guess that several thousand houses would be affected including Lower Earley, Shinfield, Arborfield and Sindlesham.

But not in Mr Brown's back yard!

Frank R Connolly, Arborfield
