I would agree with objectors ("Outrage at roundabout plans", Chronicle, October 22) that if traffic lights replace the two mini-roundabouts near The Maidens pub on Shinfield Road, traffic queues are likely to worsen.
But if Reading Borough Council wants to persuade people otherwise, all it has to do is put up temporary traffic-lights at these junctions for a short period.
No-one could really object to that!

This seems like a sensible idea. However, a proper pollution monitoring system should also be provided in order to check levels of pollution for a reasonable period BEFORE the trial, as well as DURING the trial.
