I would like to thank the electors of Arborfield who increased my share of the vote in the Wokingham Borough election to 35%.

Even though I didn't regain my seat, I shall continue to monitor the housing plans for Arborfield Garrison and their effect on existing residents, and I shall try to ensure that nothing gets built unless the Army completely vacate the site.

For those who were confused about the competing claims about housing numbers, may I assure you that the Lib Dems never wanted to put such huge numbers (varying from 12,000 to 14,000) on the Garrison site.

This would be like building the whole of Wokingham Town (from its borders with Winnersh, Bracknell and Finchampstead) within a relatively small site.

The true picture is that the Lib Dems wanted to make sure that there were sufficient numbers to provide the infrastructure, and so they went for the maximum of 5,000 houses before 2026. If you look closely at the masterplan, you will see that there are 3,500 in the plan before 2026, plus another 1,500 after 2026, making the same number of 5,000 in all.
