TRUE to form Woodley Liberal Democrats bring a whole new meaning to political opportunism when complaining about the new toilets being attached to the library (Disabled loo plan panned, Woodley and Earley Chronicle, February 11).

A meeting to discuss the Local Loo Scheme was held in June last year between Wokingham Borough Council and Woodley Town Council.

Liberal Democrat leader, Cllr Beth Rowland, explained their position with respect to the new toilet provision.

She said that there was no need for an extra toilet in the library as there would be sufficient provision in the town centre with the Oakwood Centre and Costa Coffee.

Cllr Phil Challis is a key member of this Liberal Democrat administration and would have known this.

So I am at a loss why Phil makes such a fuss about this additional toilet when his party's view is that this is not needed.

With an eye to the elections this year, and not for the first time, Woodley Liberal Democrats say one thing in private and a different thing in public.
