TWO stories by Maxwell Kusi-Obodum (Chronicle, June 18) have caught my eye. The First: "Red light nearly stopped bid for alcohol licence" and secondly: "Crackdown on lager louts".
When I read stories like this, I wonder if this licensing panel has gone completely bonkers?
In the first story they grant extra hours to sell booze, which is completely wrong. Oxford Road has enough troubles without this. And to read on the same page that they want to crack down on street drinkers - the licensing panel should hold their heads down in shame.
And to cap it all a pub is to close against the wish of residents.
So to sum it up, they want to grant extra hours to a garage when residents want a crackdown and the pub people want saved is to be knocked down for housing. I would like to say one thing to Cllr Jeanette Skeats, as a true Blue I would have expected something better than this.
