YOU could help pupils learn to fly - a drone, that is.

Beechwood Primary School in Woodley is appealing for donations towards a Mambo Basic drone kit to show its pupils the sky is the limit.

The school has just two more weeks to secure the £641 needed.

Children as young as four would be able to learn and apply simple algorithms to programme the six drones, whilst older pupils would be able to create more complex code and watch as their coding comes to life in the sky.

Beechwood wants to help its pupils enjoy coding through the drone kit whilst creating and inspiring future STEM entrepreneurs.

Matt Lovegrove, teacher at Beechwood Primary School said: “Having equipment like the drone would help bring coding to Beechwood, and would give our pupils opportunities to learn in new and exciting ways. Unfortunately we currently don’t have the funding for this type of project, which is why we are crowd-funding and reaching out to our local community to help.”

If the funding isn’t secured in the next 14 days, Beechwood won’t be able to buy the drones, which they saw whilst attending BETT the education show in London with pupils who are part of the Beechwood Digital Leaders club.
