FESTIVE fundraisers would like to thank generous residents after nearly £9,000 was gathered through their Christmas appeal.

The Rotary Club of Loddon Vale (RCLV) returned to the streets with the ever-popular sleigh tour through Woodley and Earley.

Money donated to the float collections will support Launchpad, Addington School and a host of other charitable causes.

Trevor Barber, from the RCLV, said: "For the past 44 years we have provided much-needed pieces of magic at Christmas time.

"This year was no exception with no fewer than 10 sleigh routes providing a wide opportunity for the children and families to enjoy Santa and Christmas carols.

"These Christmas float collections are a main part of our annual charity fundraising effort.

"We are delighted with the generosity of the local residents and the money will be distributed to many worthy causes during 2018.

"We would like to extend a massive thank you to the residents of Woodley, Earley and the surrounding areas for their generosity in donating."

Rotarians could be heard signing a variety of carols during their collections at a number of locations, including Woodley town centre.
