A KNIFE fight at the Earley Retreat left one man with severe injuries to his hand, it has been revealed.

The 24-year-old victim was followed into the toilets by two other men at the public house before a savage fight broke out on Wednesday evening at around 7.10pm.

Officers attended the scene on Chalfont Close after the man was assaulted and sustained injuries to his hand, which are believed to have been caused by a knife.

They then noticed a man on the roof of the pub, who was safely brought down by firefighters.

A 29-year-old man from Reading has been arrested on suspicion of wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm and has been bailed until Wednesday, May 3.

David Edmond, from Loddon Valley police station, said: "Officers are investigating this incident in which a man was assaulted and I would appeal to anyone who was in the pub or in the local area at around the time of the incident who has any information about what happened to contact police.

"We believe this to have been an isolated incident in which the victim was known to the offenders and we are currently working to establish the circumstances."
