Rock drumming legend Ian Paice will be giving tip and hints to prospective drummers during a day of free lessons.
The Deep Purple and Whitesnake star will be at DrumWright, Headley Road, Woodley, on Saturday, March 21, as part of an initiative to get people to pick up an instrument.
Musicians who think they might be good with two sticks and a drumkit are being free lessons throughout the day with the star teacher popping in at midday.
As part of the National Learn to Play Day, DrumWright is offering free introductory drum lessons to people who are interested in the instrument.
Between 10am and 5pm potential musicians of any age, will be able to have a go with the support of an experienced teacher.
The initiative is run by the charity Music for All, in partnership with participating music shops across the UK, the Music Industries Association, the Musicians Union and The Arts Council.
DrumWright, Headley Road East, Woodley, will have teacher Simon Ash in for the day.
A spokesman said: “There is no need to book in advance — just drop in to the store anytime between 10am and 5pm for a ‘taster’ lesson of 20 — 30 minutes absolutely free of charge.
“And for more experienced drummers wishing to sharpen their skills, Ian Paice will be in store at midday to demonstrate some tips and techniques, including the ‘one-handed drum roll’ for which he is renowned.”
