NEIGHBOURS and councillors have won a key battle in their fight to stop The Maiden Over, in Earley, being transformed into a Tesco Express Store.
At last night's Wokingham Borough Council meeting, those protesting the pub's closure argued why it should be consider a community asset and remain a place for social gathering.
Planning leaders have granted the site, in Silverdale Road, Article 4 status, meaning Tesco will have to submit planning permission to change the use of it from a pub to a supermarket.
