Police have confirmed that 77-year-old Mr Gilham, who lived in Coniston Close, was pronounced dead at the scene following the two vehicle smash near Fleet.
Officers say that Mr Gilham was driving his green Vauxhall Astra down a country lane at around 3.06pm when it was involved in a collision with a white Renault flatbed van before hitting a tree.
No-one else was injured in the smash.
Police are appealing for people who witnessed the smash, or saw either vehicle in the minutes before the collision, to come forward
