THOUSANDS of people were left without electricity this afternoon as a wave of power cuts hit Earley and Little Hungerford.
Around 3,800 homes were plunged into darkness at 2pm due to a technical fault in Earley.
It is estimated about 300 homes remain without power tonight, with engineers still working to fix the problem.
A Southern Electric spokesman said: "Engineers are still on site and everybody is doing everything they can to get the power back on and minimise the disruption.
"We would like to apologise for any inconvenience this has caused."
