BOOKWORMS braved the icy temperatures and pulled on wellies and waterproofs to join in with some weekend fun at Woodley Library.

Families flocked to the Headley Road library on Saturday last week, where a whole host of fun-packed activities had been organised in celebration of National Libraries Day.

Youngsters carefully coloured in drawings of animals before settling down for storytime while adults enjoyed games of Scrabble and craft club taster sessions over a cup of coffee.

An open book group meeting also gave people the chance to chat about their favourite and least favourite books.

Senior library assistant Lesley Lowe said: "We were really pleased with how it went.

"We've had some really positive feedback and at least three of the groups that held taster sessions have gained a new member.

"It was so lovely to see the library so lively - it is difficult to say exactly how many people came through the doors, but we definitely had a great turnout."
