Family taken to hospital after living room blaze

A FAMILY of three was taken to hospital after a blaze begun in their living room.
Two crews from Wokingham Road and Whitley Wood fire stations rushed to the house in Meadow Road, Earley at 4.30am this morning (Saturday).
The family, a couple and their teenage son, were already out of the house when firefighters arrived and the crews were on the scene for three hours.
The blaze is believed to have started on a chair in the living room, but the cause is unknown.
Firefighter Kevin Morgan, from Wokingham Road fire station, said: “Residents should always ensure they have a working fire alarm fitted in their properties.”
It is believed the family were taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital as a precautionary measure.
There was smoke damage throughout the house and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
