FRIENDS and family have been paying tribute to Shaun Biggs, who died on New Year's Day.

The 21-year-old, from Swepstone Close, Lower Earley, died in unexplained circumstances after being rushed to hospital from a hotel in Maidenhead.

People have been using websites including Facebook to pay their respects to the Loddon Valley Leisure Centre employee.

One friend, Paul Jameson, wrote: "You were an awesome guy who filled everyone with happiness I will never forget your dancing in Newcastle. Such a loss to the world."

His aunt Pauline Leask also added a tribute, writing: "R.I.P. my dear nephew, such a tragic loss of a young life. You are in heaven now with your nan and uncle Mark they will look after you. Our love thoughts and prayers are with your mum dad and sister Kelly xxxx."

Billy Lomax said: "You were one smashing person who didnt deserve this at all, was a pleasure knowing and working with you mate!"

Police were called to the Kingswood Hotel in Boyn Hill Avenue, Maidenhead, at 4.55am on New Year's Day. Mr Biggs died at Slough's Wexham Park Hospital around an hour later.

An initial post-mortem examination proved inconclusive and a second is due to take place in the next few days.

Elizabeth Patterson, 55, who lives near the hotel, said she was woken up by the sirens, adding: "I heard a lot of noise from across the street, I looked out the window and saw an ambulance and police car, I had no idea what was going on."

The Kingswood Hotel declined to comment.

* FIVE people were arrested in connection with the incident and have been released on bail until February 12 pending further enquiries.
