A CHURCH is putting on a week of events to mark World AIDS Day on Tuesday.
St Nicolas Church in Sutcliffe Avenue, Earley, is putting up displays about HIV-AIDS including real life stories of people living with the virus, and at 7.30pm is showing a film about it along with music and personal testimony from people affected. Revd Neil Warwick said: "Somewhere in the world three people die every minute because of AIDS. These are not just statistics but people like us, fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters. We believe there is hope for all people living with HIV and AIDS and we are passionate about raising awareness of this ongoing tragedy. We want this day to be an expression of solidarity and hope." "
Schoolchildren are visiting the church on Thursday to see the displays and find out more about the millions of orphans who have lost parents to the disease.
