SHELLSHOCKED campaigners have suffered a bitter defeat in their fight to stop development on Sandford Farm.
Members of Loddon Valley Action Group (LVAG) were left crushed when they were told this morning (Wednesday) of a planning inspector's verdict which gives the go-ahead for almost 500 homes and a 150-unit retirement village on the former landfil site.
LVAG chairman David Parker said: "We're very disappointed because if the developers satisfy certain conditions by March next year, it will be allowed. We've put up a good fight for the residents and we still believe there will be health consequences and traffic consequences. We understand that there is a pressure for the government to build more houses but we are disappointed that pressure has overcome the valid concerns the residents have.
"We'd like to thank the residents for the money that was raised to fight the appeal and the contributions they made. We will be looking in detail at the conditions that have to be met."

Terrible news for Woodley, I think most people agree.
Potentially better news for first-time buyers...

I don't understand why people are getting so upset about this. I think it's quite good. I love in woodley and i don't think that there will be any health risks, maybe traffic, but there is always traffic.
