ENGINEERS were called into action when a water pipe burst in the early hours of this morning (Monday).

Thames Water contractors and a crew from the Berkshire Fire and Rescue water unit attended the flood in Cutbush Lane, Lower Earley at around 5.30am.

They closed the road before severing the supply to the 10 inch water main which had flooded a nearby house"s ground floor and garden.

Thames Water spokeswoman Amy Dutton said: 'Approximately 15 customers are experiencing interruptions to their water supply whilst the repair work is carried out. We apologise to customers and road users for any inconvenience this has caused'.
