THE prospect of thousands of new homes south and south east of Reading is looming on the horizon.
Wokingham Borough Council"s core strategy for development over the next 20 years is at its final stage following the public examination of every aspect of it earlier this yea and the report is due out in the autumn.
But now the council wants resident input into the most contentious parts of the plan - where to site the homes that the Government says must be built in the borough.
The current plan is for 3,500 houses at Arborfield Garrison, at least 2,500 between and around Shinfield, Spencers Wood and Three Mile Cross, but without merging the villages, and 4,000 homes North and South of Wokingham.
The last time the process was thrown open for comments, from August until October 2008, the council got 12,007 negative comments and 173 positive, from 1,538 people and organisations.
There are two workshops where anyone interested can have their say on what these key housing areas should look like, on Friday, June 19, for the Wokingham sites and Saturday, June 20, for South of the M4 and Arborfield Garrison.
