AN ELDERLY woman suffered neck injuries in a head on crash after she was blinded by the sun while driving.

Fire crews from Wokingham Station were called to the junction of Drovers Way and Crockhamwell Road at around 2.45pm on Wednesday.

A 69 and 29-year-old woman - both driving Ford Fiesta cars - were involved in a front-on impact crash and both drivers sustained neck injuries.

Two ambulances were called to give treatment on the scene, although neither of the women were trapped inside the vehicles.

Watch manager Clive Williams from Wokingham Station said: "A 69-year-old woman was turning out and she was blinded by the low sun.

"Both casualties managed to get out of the car before we arrived so no equipment was required.

"Both the elderly and the younger woman sustained neck injuries and required assistance from the ambulance."

South Central Ambulance Service have been approached for comment.
